Richard Cilli

Dancer - Motion Picture 2017

Richard Cilli began dancing with STEPS Youth Dance Company in Perth. He studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and completed the exchange program at Taipei National University of the Arts.

Richard joined Sydney Dance Company in 2009, where he worked with Rafael Bonachela, Emanuel Gat, and Jacopo Godani among other choreographers. He won the Helpmann Award for best male dancer in 2010 for his performance in Bonachelas we unfold.

In 2012 he won the Australian Ballets 50th Anniversary Ballet Project, subsequently choreographing his work Corpus Callosum in the Australian Ballets 2014 Bodytorque season. Richard worked in London in 2013 with Alexander Whitley, and in 2014 joined Kenneth Kvarnströms dance company in Stockholm. He then returned to Sydney Dance Company, performing in William Forsythes Quintett, new works by Bonachela, Gideon Obarzanek and Alexander Ekmann. Richards new work for Sydney Dance Company Hinterland premieres in December 2016 at Carriageworks, Sydney.

Richard is performing in Motion Picture when on tour during 2017. This will be Richard’s first time woking with Lucy Guerin Inc.
