Melanie Lane

Melanie, born in Sydney, graduated from WAAPA in 1999. In 2000 she travelled to Europe working with various companies and artists such as Arco Renz | Kobalt Works, Club Guy and Roni, Tino Seghal and PVC. Since 2007, Melanie is artistic collaborator to Belgian dance company Arco Renz | Kobalt Works for projects in Belgium, Germany, Norway, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Phillipinnes.

As a choreographer, Melanie has established a repertory of works performing in international festivals such as Tanz im August, Uzes Danse Festival, Sydney Spring Dance Festival, Festival Antigel, and Tanz ueber Graben/HAU Berlin among others. She has taken up residence at Schauspiel Leipzig, Dock 11 Berlin, Tanzwerkstatt Berlin, O Espaço do Tempo Montemor, Théâtre de Nîmes, Lucy Guerin Studios and Ausdance NSW a.o. Her work ‘Merge’  premiered at Dance Massive in Melbourne 2015.

Recently re-located to Melbourne, Melanie continues to develop her work as well as teaching professional training and workshops locally and abroad. She has been a guest teacher for companies such as Carte Blanche Norway, Sasha Waltz and Guests, Lucy Guerin Inc, Chunky Move, PVC dance company, Tanztheater Bielefeld, Danish Dance Theatre and Nordwest/Tanzcompagnie Oldenburg a.o.
