Matthew Whittet

Collaborator & Performer - Conversation Piece

Matthew is a graduate of Sydney’s National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). For Belvoir he has performed in The Book of Everything (Sydney & NYC), The Threepenny Opera, The Underpants, King Ubu and As You Like It. He has also appeared in The Wonderful World of Dissocia, Metamorphosis, Endgame and Fireface (Sydney Theatre Company); Hamlet, King Lear (Bell Shakespeare); Moving Target, The Ham Funeral (Malthouse Theatre); and The Department (State Theatre Company of South Australia). He wrote and performed his one-man show Silver for B Sharp as well as The Fugitive for Windmill Theatre. He also wrote and starred in School Dance for Windmill Theatre which was part of the 2012 Adelaide Festival.

Film credits include The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge! and Australia, and he has appeared on television in Mabo, All Saints, Blue Heelers, White Collar Blue, Changi, Wildside and Water Rats. He won the Philip Parsons Young Playwright’s Award for Silver (B Sharp, 2009). Matthew’s play Old Man was produced in Belvoir’s Downstairs Theatre as part of the Belvoir 2012 season.
