Amber HainesDancer - Structure and Sadness, Weather (2013)
Amber trained at the Victorian College of the Arts, graduating in 2006 as the recipient of the Mary Orloff Prize for Most Outstanding Dancer.
She began her professional career with Chunky Move, and has toured Gideon Obarzanek’s GLOW and Mortal Engine throughout Australia, Europe, UK, South and Central America. She has recently toured Lucy Guerin’s work Weather around North America and Canada. In 2009 Amber performed as a guest artist in the European tour of Garry Stewart’s G. She joined Australian Dance Theatre as a full time member in 2011 and has since toured and performed in Be Your Self, Worldhood, Proximity and G.
She has choreographed work for Lucy Guerin’s Pieces for Small Spaces, Rough Draft and Next Wave Festival. In 2013/14 Amber spent three months in Varanasi, India on an Asialink residency with Kyle Page where they created a brand new work titled Syncing Feeling, which will premiere in the Salamanca Arts Centre in 2015. She is currently co-directing a work for Twine Projects titled Engi, which will premiere in the 2015 OzAsia Festival.
