Since Donald has returned to Australia, concluding 6 years at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in New York as an Associate Partner, he has established a strong multi disciplinary practice. He is working in collaboration with clients across the globe and has established his own studio, HOLT.CLIFFORD /DESIGNERS allowing him to consult and collaborate with a huge variety of professionals across all the design disciplines internationally.

Donald is a senior creative designer. He is involved in each facet of the design process, specializing in conceptual design and monitoring the overall design philosophy. He acts as liaison between his clients and
marketing, advertising, lighting, food service, audiovisual and graphics consultants.

His skills have been accumulated and applied across various disciplines (architecture, interior design, product design, landscape architecture) throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. He has explored a large number of project types, the core area of, which has been corporate, institutional and civic interiors, image development and strategies, including the award winning Commonwealth Law Courts in Melbourne, Australia.

His product design experience includes furniture, hardware, light fittings, wall and ceiling systems, furniture, textiles, technology casings and fixtures. In the coming months his work will be exhibited in design surveys in Melbourne and Sydney as well as a nationwide touring show of finalists of the Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award.

During this time in the US he was the senior designer for multiple award winning expansion of the New York Stock Exchange and the winning design competition entry for the NATO headquarters in Belgium.
