Solemn Pink was first performed at the Judson Church, New York, as part of the Movement Research program in March 1993 and was supported by the Greenwell Foundation Program. Solemn Pink was selected for the Recontres Choreographique Internationales de Bagnolet competition in Paris, 1994 amongst an incredibly talented field that included John Jasperse and Kota Yamazaki who Lucy later went on to feature in a double bill with at the Malthouse Theatre during the Melbourne International Arts Festival in 2006 as part of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Australia and Japan.
Solemn Pink also featured at Dancentrum in Stockholm in 1993, which was Lucy Guerin’s first International tour. Dancecentrum was established as a national artistic research center in 1971 and has evolved over the years to become the Trade Association for Professional Contemporary Dance.
